Frances Paul De Germain, aka, Shah-nah-Xee Nahn-ya-ahyi, was born April 14, 1924 to William Lewis Paul (1885-1997) and Frances Lackey Paul (1890-1970). William Lewis Paul was a Native lawyer known for his prolific writing and Native rights work, including the right to vote and significant contributions toward the Alaska Native Land Claims Act of 1971.
